Shopping on line can be easy, simple and save you lots of money. It can also take a lot of your time, frustrate you, and result in unwanted purchases. Now the same can be said for regular high street shopping, but with the vast opportunity presented by the Internet it will pay you to spend a few minutes reading this and understanding how to better optimize your Ford Expedition shopping experience:

1. Compare - without doubt the biggest advantage that the Ford Expedition offers shoppers today is the ability to compare thousands of Ford Expedition at a time. This is a great thing, but not necessarily all the time! Too much can be daunting at times so take advantage of the great comparison sites and where possible let them do the hard work for you.

2. Research - if it has been said it will be on the internet. Ignorance is no longer a justifiable reason for buying the wrong thing. Take the time to research in detail everything that you could possible want to know about

3. Testimonials - don't know anybody that has bought a Ford Expedition? Wrong! If the Ford Expedition is good the internet will let you know. Use the Internet as a friend and get testimonials before you buy.

4. Questions - Got a question about Ford Expedition then search the Forums, FAQ's, Blogs etc. Don't be afraid to ask .....

5. Reputation - Never heard of the company selling Ford Expedition? Don't worry, no reason why you should know every company in the world, but you know someone that does! Use the internet to find out what people are saying about Ford Expedition and build up a picture of their reputation for sales, returns, customer service, delivery etc.

6. Returns - still worried that even after all of the above your Ford Expedition wont be what you want? Check out the returns policy. There is so much competition now that someone, somewhere is bound to offer the terms that you are comfortable with.

7. Feedback - happy with your Ford Expedition then let people know, after all you are depending on others people input in your buying decision, so why not give a little back.

8. Security - check for the yellow padlock on the Ford Expedition site before you buy, and the s after http:/ /i.e. https:// = a secure site

9. Contact - got a question about Ford Expedition, or want to leave a comment then check out the sites contact page. Reputable companies have them and respond.

10. Payment - ready to pay for your Ford Expedition, then use your credit card or PayPal! Be aware of companies that don't accept them, there may be genuine reasons but given the huge amount of choice you have when buying online there is no reason at all not to buy via credit card or PayPal.

The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV built by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced in 1997 it slots between the smaller Ford Explorer, and the now discontinued and larger Ford Excursion. The Expedition offers up to eight passenger seating and a range of V8 engines. It is similar to the Lincoln Navigator, especially for the 2004 model with the introduction of the Limited trim line. One million Expeditions have sold since 2004, reflecting high consumer demand for its family-friendly interior, cargo space, and high towing capacity. A specially modified Special Service Vehicle version is also available from Ford for law enforcement and fire departments. All Expeditions are built in Wayne, Michigan. This SUV (especially the larger Ford Expedition#2007 model for 2007) is once again Ford's flagship vehicles SUV.

1997-2002 The Expedition was designed to compete with both the larger Chevrolet Suburban, and the smaller Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon, as well as the Toyota Land Cruiser. It replaced the full-size Ford Bronco. Seating capacity ranged up to eight passengers with the third-row rear seat option, and the Expedition could tow 8,000 lb (3,600 kg). Ford made changes for the 1999 Expedition. Both the 4.6L and 5.4L engines got more power without lowering the mpg. It also got a new grille, front fascia, and bumper with incorporated fog lamps in the lower valence.

Engines:

2003-2006 The 2003 Expedition shared the Ford U platform for 8,300 lb (3,800 kg) towing. The rear axle and suspension was changed to an independent suspension configuration giving and a more refined ride. Popular new features included power folding third-row seats and turn-signal mirror lights.

The base 4.6 L V8 engine was dropped in 2005 as the 5.4 L V8 was updated with multi-valve technology.

AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ is optional for 2005.

The Expedition uses the code U1 in the 5th and 6th positions of the VIN.

Engines:

2007 For 2007, the Expedition was redesigned, utilizing the new Ford T platform. The new platform provides 10% more torsional rigidity than the previous model, and includes the independent rear suspension. As in previous years, the Expedition is powered by the 5.4 L Triton V8 internal combustion engine, rated at and 365 lbf·ft (495 N·m) of torque, which when properly equipped can tow up to 9,100 lb (4,130 kg). In addition, a 4.6 L V8 hybrid vehicles, rated the same for both power and torque as the 5.4 L may be available in future years and/or a 4.4 L V8 diesel engine, based off the Ford Lion V6 engine with estimates of and 515 ft·lbf (700 Newton meter) of torque respectively. The 2007 Expedition was unveiled at the Houston, Texas Auto Show rather than at North American International Auto Show, Greater Los Angeles Auto Show, or New York International Auto Show where most new models are, as 20% of all Expedition sales are in Texas. The third generation Expedition went on sale in August 2006. The first 2007 Expedition to roll off a Ford assembly line was donated by Ford to the Peter family of Jamaica, Queens, New York as part of an episode of the American Broadcasting Company series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that aired May 7, 2006.

Expedition EL For 2007, an extended-wheelbase version of the Expedition called the Expedition EL (for "extended length") in the United States and the Expedition Max in Canada and Mexico replaced the discontinued Ford Excursion and is expected to compete more effectively with the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL. The extended-length version is known as the Expedition Max in Canada and Mexico, because of confusion with the Canada-sold Acura EL. The Expedition EL is about 15.8 in (40 cm) longer than the standard Expedition for a total of approximately 222 in (18.5 feet or 563 cm), and has a 131 in (333 cm) wheelbase, producing 24 ft³ of additional cargo space over the standard 119 in (302 cm) wheelbase model. Just like the standard sized Expedition, the Expedition EL comes in 4 trim lines: the XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited and the recently added King Ranch series. The Expedition EL can be distinguished by its longer rear-quarter windows and the aft wheel well trim not cutting into the rear passenger doors.

Expedition Special Service Vehicle To compete with large police SUVs that are sold by other automobile companies, primarily the Chevy Suburban, Ford has made a special trim line for the Expedition thats only available to police and fire departments around the country. Ford calls it the Expedition Special Service Vehicle. The Expedition Special Service Vehicle offers a stronger engine than the standard Expedition and emergency options which include light bars and sirens.
